Frequently Asked Questions

…About Bikini Waxing:

What is the difference between a bikini, a deluxe and a Brazilian wax?
A Regular bikini wax is removing the hair you would see if you had on a bikini. The Deluxe bikini is more boxed in. We remove more hair from the top and sides. The Brazilian wax removes all hair, from front to back. You may choose to leave a strip, triangle, or to have everything taken off.

Does it hurt?
If we told you that ripping your hair out of follicles didn’t feel a bit uncomfortable we’d be lying, but having well trained and experienced aestheticians makes the process bearable. Although around the time of your menstrual cycle you might find it a little more painful. For sanitary reasons, if you decide to wax during your menstrual cycle, we ask that you please come in clean and with a fresh tampon.

If at any point during a wax you feel that it’s too uncomfortable, tell your aesthetician to stop.

Do you recommend using a numbing cream?
No, the cream interferes with the application, making it hard to get the hair up.

How long will I be uncomfortable after my wax?
Our clients have said anywhere from an hour up to a couple of days. Taking an ibuprofen an hour before you wax and another after may help minimize discomfort. Icing the area can also help. This is something you might only need to do the first couple of times.

How long does the wax last?
Everyone’s hair growth is different. At times your hair may grow faster than others. Working out and taking vitamins are factors that will cause your hair to grow faster. If you’ve shaved very recently before your wax, you may see hair coming back sooner after your wax… It’s important to let your hair grow out completely before your first wax. You will notice the texture is finer after waxing and your hair regrowth will be a lot slower.

*If you are on any skin medications from a dermatologist or birth control please notify your aesthetician before your wax.

…about Eyelash Extensions:

How long do they last?
It depends on the person, but generally your natural lash sheds every 30 to 90 days. When one falls off it is replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. Most clients who want to keep them up come in every three weeks for refills to replace any lost extensions due to this natural life cycle. Natural skin oils, rubbing, scratching and pulling lashes will shorten the life cycle of your extensions.

How do I care for my extensions?
From experience we’ve learned that keeping them dry the first 24 hours really helps to prolong the life of your extensions. Do not steam face, use steam bath, swim or wash lashes with hot water for 2 days after the procedure as the adhesive takes 48 hours to set. As for the daily care of your lashes, do not rub your eyes or lashes when washing your face. Be sure to use an oil-free facial cleanser. Gently pat lashes dry after cleansing.

Can I use mascara on them?
We recommend and sell mascara that is water soluble and made for the extensions. We don’t recommend using regular mascara, especially not waterproof varieties. Mascara clumps the extensions together and causes them to fall out faster.

Why do I lose my lashes?
The common reasons lashes fall off are natural lash shedding, excessive rubbing, poor technique, improper care within the first two days and use of oily products or make up remover directly on eyelashes.

Can I use a lash curler on my extensions?
No. Using a lash curler or lash perms will make the extensions fall off. The extensions are J shaped and will make your lashes curl up.

…about Brow & Lash Tinting:

How long does the tinting last?
Tinting usually lasts anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks. If you’re out in the sun a lot it can make the tint fade faster.

Is the tint safe around my eyes?
Yes, we use a vegetable dye that is hypoallergenic and formulated with natural ingredients for long lasting results.

Why would someone tint their brows?
To make brows more visible, to camouflage grey, and tinting can also make them appear thicker.

Is the lash tinting like mascara?
They both make the lashes more visible but mascara volumizes. The tint only darkens the lashes you have.

…about Organic Spray Tanning:

What is Organic Spray Tanning?
Brow Lounge’s new Organic Spray Tanning uses natural and organic ingredients loaded with intense hydration and antioxidants, including Green Tea Leaf and Coffee Seed extracts to firm and tone your skin, organic Aloe Vera and Jojaba Seed oil to moisturize and Chamomile Recutita Flower extract to soothe and smoothe. Our tanning solution uses Matrixyl 3000 to lift and firm the skin by promoting collagen and elastin production and stimulate fibroblast cells to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and cellulite. Additional pure botanical ingredients nurture the skin and make our tanning process a true skin care process, too. The result is a gorgeous long lasting, natural looking tan!

Is it safe?
The Brow Lounge Organic Spray Tan formula has no harsh chemicals, is non-sticky and produces a natural brown color (no orange discoloration like some lotions!). We offer 6%, 8% and 10% DHA solutions, and we’ll determine the right product for your skin type. We can also add in a slight red undertone, giving you that “just off the beach” look without any real sun damage to your skin!

How long does it last?
Your tan should last for 7 – 10 days, depending on your level of activity. You can prolong your tan by using moisturizers to keep skin from drying out. Immediately following your tanning procedure, you should avoid hot tubs, baths and vigorous exercise for at least 12 hours to obtain best results.

What should I do before I tan

Before coming in for your Organic Spray Tan, be sure to exfoliate and scrub your skin, and shave any parts you normally shave (legs, underarms, men’s faces, etc.). Wear loose, dark clothes over an old, dark bathing suit/undergarments and sandals or flip flops. Brow Lounge has disposable undergarments available, too. Lastly, be sure NOT to apply any moisturizers, deoderant or other lotions or perfumes prior to your tan.
